Reasonable adjustments

Everyone should have a fair chance to show what they know. If you have a disability, a long-term health condition, a learning difference such as dyslexia, an injury or any other need that could get in the way, we can often change how the course or the exam works for you. These changes are called reasonable adjustments.

What an adjustment is

An adjustment changes the way you take part or the way you are assessed. It never lowers the standard of the qualification. You still show the same knowledge as every other student.

Examples might be extra time in the exam, a different format for the papers, a reader or scribe, rest breaks, or changes to seating or the room.

How to ask

  • When you book. The booking form asks whether you need anything. Tick the box and tell us a little.
  • At any time. Write to info@rackandreturn.com or WhatsApp +34 620 001 196.

Please ask as early as you can, ideally 4 weeks before the course starts. Some adjustments need WSET’s agreement, and that takes time. If your need appears later, for example after an injury, tell us anyway and we will do what we can.

You do not need to share your medical details with us beyond what is needed to arrange the adjustment. We may ask for a letter or evidence for some exam adjustments.

What we do

  1. We reply within 5 working days.
  2. We talk with you, by phone if you prefer, about what would help.
  3. We agree a plan with you and tell you in writing what we will do. If WSET must approve it, we ask on your behalf and tell you the answer.
  4. We tell the teacher only what they need to know to put it in place.

Asking never affects your result

Asking for an adjustment will never affect your place on a course, your result or your certificate. We treat what you tell us as private.

Your information

We keep your request and our reply for at least three years, as WSET asks. We share the details with WSET only when it is needed to arrange an adjustment, and only with your consent. See our Privacy policy.

If you are not happy with our answer

Tell us and we will look again. You can also use our Complaints policy.
