This is a four-week online course with a fixed start date and 6 months of access to the online learning material.
By the end of this course you’ll be able to:
- Understand and explaining grape-growing and wine-making in detail
- Identify and explain the main styles of wines in the world
- Explain what are the main grape varieties of the world and how they affect style
- Communicate about wine using a shared, global language
- Pair wine and food perfectly
- Explain the production methods and main styles of sparkling and fortified wines
As you work through the online course, you will be submitting your homework assignments with your online instructor.
Tasting is a highly recommended part of studying for this course, and you will need to taste a range of wines. The list of recommendations can be found inside your online class, along with suggestions on where you can purchase them online.
To obtain the WSET Level 2 Award Certificate in Wine, you’ll need to successful pass an in-person exam that is made up of 50 multiple choice questions.
You have 12 months from the start of your course in which to schedule your examination, which must be taken in person at Loft 153 – Coworking Space Barcelona. During COVID-19 limitations, there is also the possibility to take the exam online!

How is this Online Wine Course different to studying in a classroom setting?
The qualification, exam, certification and topics covered are exactly the same; only the form of studying differs!
How does the Online Classroom work?
Once enrolled to a scheduled WSET LEVEL 2 Online course, we’ll send you a welcome email that will detail how you can access the learning zone. All the material will be available here as soon as the course begins and will remain so for the duration of your course. You’ll be provided with guidelines on progression and then it’s then up to you to decide how often and whether or not you wish to learn in small bite sized chunks or perhaps in more in depth sessions.
How long do I have access to the online classroom?
You have access for a total of 6 months from the published course start date.
What access will I have to a teacher if I need extra help?
Throughout the entire course there will be scheduled live lessons led by our head educator and also opportunities for feedback on homework and tasting notes. If you have a query, simply get in touch with your teacher directly. You will have our full support throughout the duration of your WSET Course with us.
Is the exam of the ONLINE WSET LEVEL 2 Also offered online?
Yes! The exam is also offered online as long as there are restrictions related to the COVID-19 situation.
The exam is also offered in person and you have 12 months from the time you enrol in the course to sit the exam at our locations C/Consell de Cent 153, Barcelona. Due to the exceptional circumstances of COVID-19, these dates are subject to change if necessary.
What does the WSET Level 2 Online Award in Wine exam consist of?
Candidates will be required to pass a closed-book examination of 50 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each. The exam is 60 minutes long. You must pass the exam with a minimum of 55% to earn your certificate and pin.
What happens if I do not pass the exam?
If you do not pass the exam on your first attempt, you can resit the exam during another scheduled exam date. A resit fee applies.
How many exam dates will there be available?
There will be a minimum of 4 available exam dates throughout the coming year. You will be notified of these dates and asked to confirm your attendance.
How does the wine tasting element work in the WSET LEVEL 2 online course?
We will send you a list of suggested wines, where you can buy them and how to submit tasting notes for feedback. We will also offer a service to have the correct wines sent to you directly. Tasting as part of an online course is optional though highly recommended.
How long should I study as part of this program?
The online course material itself should take around 24 hours to complete for most people. However, to get the most out of the course and score highly on your examination, we recommend 3 hours a week, regular participation in the live sessions and a further 2-3 hours revision before your examination.
